of the students in newtown, connecticut for the first time since friday's massacre, except for the students at sandy hook elementary which of course was the scene of that tragedy. two more young victims are being laid to rest today. randall pinkston reports. >> reporter: a bus carrying students drove up to the high school as a grief stricken town tried to get to some routine. police were on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly. >> i wouldn't send my children to school if i had the choice right now. i wouldn't. >> i think it's important the children do go back to school. >> reporter: all schools except sandy hook elementary are open. the scene of the massacre will remain closed for months. when those children do go back, they'll attend a school in a nearby town. people lit candles to remember the lives cut short. they paid their respects at the memorials set up for the 26 victims. the grieving process continues. the families of two more children are saying a final farewell. the family of james mattioli used to joke he was born four weeks early because he was hungry. >> jessica rekos wil

happened in newtown, connecticut, in just a minute but police ask for your help to find a man who sexually assaulted a young girl in woodbridge. >> reporter: anita, the sister of the victim says that she is getting some rest tonight. it happened in a cul-de-sac not far from where we are standing in woodbridge, virginia. this is what happened. earlier police say a teen was inside the home. there was a knock, and when the teen opened the door, a man claimed to work for a cable company. he asked for a person and then the teen said that this person does not live here. so he leaves, but then he returns, this time he threatens the teen, forces himself inside the home. then forces the teen inside a bedroom and sexually assaults her. the teen, according to police, screamed and kicked at the man who then fled. now, we spoke to the sister earlier this evening, and she says that she just wants justice to be served. we believe we have some sound ready for you to talk about how this teen is doing tonight, how the family is coming together. the neighborhood is alerted. that there are prayers going on fo

for tougher gun controls getting louder in the wake of course of newtown. we saw that on the sunday morning talk shows yesterday. among many other places in the wake of this tragedy, but advocates for tougher laws are running head first into gun rights lawmakers as well as the national rifle association. that's not stopping lawmakers like senator dianne feinstein of california who is vowing to renew legislation to ban certain weapons and limit the number of bullets a magazine can hold. we could see movement on this legislation as soon as next month. she has a lot of support among fellow democrats. >> trying to prevent shootings in schools without talking about guns is like trying to prevent lung cancer without talking about cigarettes. >> also on meet the press yesterday, the c.e.o. of the nra dismissed calls for an assault weapons ban or limiting ammunition. instead he is pushing for more police officers in schools. >> if it's crazy to call for putting police and armed security in our school to protect our children, then call me crazy. i'll tell you what the american people -- i think the
